straight from the heart
want to air my thoughts on the death penalty. this is one topic i have been thinking on for a long time. the more i think about it i feel that the death penalty is wrong- should be banned. the one argument i personally feel strongly for- we should break the vicious cycle of violence. by taking the life of an individual for a crime, the society is committing another crime. the message inherent in this to the people is we will take revenge- an eye for an eye... humans have to move ahead, banning the death penalty would be the right step- the civilized step.

Dear Sir,
Today being 0ct 10( Anti Death penalty Day) I presented a paper dealing with death penalty in China and "Juvenile capital punishment"(all over the world). This discussion was conducted by Amnesty International( venue: Birds park).it was a very interactive discussion.intresting thing was that the crowd mainly comprised of law students(almost all) and majority of them supported death penalty which puzzled me ...they were more concerned about the use of logic in law. anyway like good lawyers they didn't stop throwing their arguments and questions to us until the judge said that the time is up! i think sometimes logic doesn't work "an eye for an eye" cannot be applied every where. sometimes i also think that life imprisonment can be a shock only to the prisoner but DP is a shock for the whole society! anyway my positive views regarding DP have changed quite a bit after coming to know the horrifying facts about DP in countries like China,Iran,US, SA,Vietnam etc..we should be thankful that India is quite liberal in such cases!

sir, i think it should not be banned. our judicial system is lax anyway, and the guilty have to be punished. something must scare them before they take a drastic step, that of taking a life.
